Keepy Uppy challenge 2
On the 14 of August witnessed the second HCI keepy uppy challenge. Many participants from all 4 levels took part in the challenge. In this epic challenge, Darren Ng of 4A2 managed to retain his title as the champion of keepy uppy in a rather one sided challenge.
Key moments
1) Darren Ng kick started the keepy uppy challenge! He managed to better his personal best record of 10 by 4 kicks, setting a keepy uppy challenge record of 14. Most of the participants were awed at the sheer quality of Darren Ng, and most could not even half his score.
2) Liu Yu Xuan was Darren Ng's closest challenger, by equaling his personal best of 9 kicks. However, he was never going to threaten Darren Ng, and within the first 15 minutes of the challenge, the first place and second place were set.
3) the competition for third place began. The potential challenges were one sec 3 and one sec 4. The sec 3 did not want to be named, thus we will call him James. The sec 4 is Richmond Lim. On James' first attempt, he managed 4 kicks. Not bad for a first timer. Richmond immediately bettered that with 5 kicks. The tension was brewing.
4) James managed 4 kicks again, and just could not go one more as he lost his balance. Richmond then put the icing on the cake by showing off his skillfulness, totaling 6 kicks, establishing himself as a potential keepy uppy champion.
Results
1) Darren Ng 14
2) Liu Yu Xuan 9
3) Richmond Lim 6

Description
Special Mention
John (not his real name), who is only a secondary 1 student, decided to give this challenge a try. Determination was written all over his face, but he could only string 4 juggles together. However, credit goes to him for being the youngest ever participant in the challenge.
Challenge (How did the result come about?)
At the very start, Huang Weihao, co organiser of the keepy uppy challenge got off to a flying start with 6 juggles, leaving most opponents intimidated and feeling inferior. At the sixth time he juggles the ball, arrogance crept up his sleeve, and his decision to attempt a 360 filed miserably. However, he still took the lead, and his sheer skill and talent was evident. The tall secondary 4 student was in pole position to win the challenge.
The next person that came close, was another secondary 4, Liu yu Xuan. On his first try, he managed a stunning 5 juggles, threatening the lead of Huang Weihao. Despite a pathetic 2nd try of 1 time, he showed that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and displayed zi qiang bu xi mentality to oust Huang Weihao with a juggle of 9 times! Huang Weihao was clearly loss for words!
Huang Weihao then gave the challenge another try. All was going well. 1,2,3,4,5,6. He achieved a personal best by going to 7. However, his nerves got up his sleeves, and he completely mishit his tennis ball. There it went, a chance to retake the lead. Liu Yu Xuan's enthusiam for the challenge and his ability to keep cool was the deciding factor.
At this point, not many could beat that record of nine times, but then, as the chinese saying goes, there is always a higher mountain. Came the bulky Darren Ng. With the technique of Shaun Maloney, and the reputation of being fearless and flawless on the ball, the 1.74m Darren accepted the challenge. One word can describe him completely. "Swag". On his first try, he gave record holder Liu Yu Xuan, a scare by going 8 times. "dok, dok, Dok...". Every juggle brought about new levels of suspense. The crowd was clearly delighted by this new challenger.
The crowds support of the street soccer veteran could only spur him to strive for better results. Letting out a heave of determination, he calmed himself down, and started his second try. 5 times. 6 times. Every time he successfully juggles, the crowd roared in support. 7 times, 8 times. One more to go to equal LYX's record. Even Huang Weihao showed his support for his fellow organiser. LYX looked in a daze as he witnessed the end to his reign. Darren Ng made it 9 times, then broke the record with his ten juggle. The supporters erupted in delight. Darren looked elated at his achievement What a victory Daren. What a challenge this had been. The rest, like we always say, is, history......
