a. Passing
Passing may seem like the easiest thing in soccer. Passing involves giving the
ball to a teammate, it is essential to look and determine where your teammate is
before you pass. However, when players are under pressure with the ball, they
are often unaware of where their teammates are. Thus, verbal communication is
essential, highlighting the importance of passing.
This is how you should pass.
§ Look at the target in which you want to pass the ball to.
§ Move towards the ball ( if it is not with you yet)
§ Plant your non-kicking foot as a position of support (the toe of your non-kicking foot should be pointed in the direction where you want the ball to go).
§ Look at the ball and concentrate.
§ Contact the ball using the correct part of your foot, using your locked ankle.
§ For an outside of the foot pass, your toes should be pointed downwards and contact is on the upper side of your foot.
§ For inside of the foot pass, your toes should be pointed up.
§ Follow-through: When you kick the ball, you should follow through towards the target.
§ Transfer your weight forward if you want the ball to gain more speed and power to reach your teammates who are standing further away.

Other than knowing how to pass the ball correctly, it is important to know when
to pass the ball.
When you pass the ball, you want to make sure that your team keeps possession. Therefore you should not pass to a teammate when he is under heavy pressure because there is a high chance that he will lose the ball. You should pass to a player who is not under much pressure or to a player who is comfortable with the ball such that he will not lose control of the ball. Lastly, you should not pass unnecessarily. For example, when you are through on goal, it would be foolish to pass. Show your confidence by taking a shot, and not passing to your teammate just because you are afraid that you will miss.
This aspect of passing requires intelligence and good reading of the game. As simple as it may seem, passing is an art many are not able to achieve. One very good passer of the ball is Paul Scholes of Manchester United. Though he demonstrates his passing on the field, it is the same concept as in street soccer – accurate, intelligent
passing.
